Caldasia is an open access biannual journal published by the Instituto de Ciencias Naturales de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia. The journal has been publishing since 1940 and its name honors Francisco José de Caldas first Colombian naturalist who was killed fighting for the independence of Colombia on October 29^th, 1816.

The journal publishes high impact contributions on the documentation, understanding, or conservation of biological diversity written in Spanish or English. The journal includes papers on botany, zoology, ecology, biodiversity, biogeography, taxonomy, systematics, conservation, anthropology, and related disciplines. The journal publishes full papers, reviews or short communications preferably. Caldasia do not have page charges but if the paper includes color images, collaboration from the authors is requested to cover these costs.

The acceptance of manuscripts by the Journal implies its electronic edition of open Access under Creative Commons License (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/), and the inclusion and diffusion of the complete text through the institutional repository of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and in all the specialized data bases that the editor considers adequate for its indexation to increase Journal visibility.
Caldasia is allows authors to archive, download and distribute the final published version.
