Editorial policy

Themes

The Journal of Finance and Economic Policy, of Faculty of Economics, of Catholic University of Colombia, from the first issue in January 2009 until today, has created a scientist space with the issues related to economic policies , finance and other topics related to economics in the Colombian context, of Latin American and world, can be analyzed and discussed by academics and researchers, national and international, of the highest level.

Target audience

The Journal of Finance and Economic Policy is aimed at academic and research communities of public and private, national and international, and others interested in issues related to the economy, research and development. This journal is disclosed in, centers and research groups, libraries and universities recognized in Colombia, and the main faculties of social sciences, economic, administrative of Colombia and Latin America. The subscription is annual and is formalized filling out the template available on the website of the magazine.

Mission

The Journal of Finance and Economic Policy, is a biannual publication (published in June and December) specializing in economic sciences, is renowned for its stability, scientific and editorial quality, visibility and accessibility, here is publishes original and unpublished articles, of authors from Colombia and other countries, associated with universities and research centers, who presented the results of their research and theoretical and practical advances in the field of finance and economic policies.

Its content meets the requirements of scientific quality set by national and international standards of indexing. It is disclosed in academia, research centers and academic networks in Colombia, Latin America and the world. The magazine helps academic development, to the quality of research related to economic sciences and the advancement of socio-political environment of Latin American countries and the rest of the world.

Arbitration Process

The arbitration process of the articles, is made in the form of double-blind, ensuring confidentiality and anonymity of authors and reviewers. The Committee of reviewers is composed of professionals with wide experience and academic recognition in the topics covered in each article. The evaluation criteria are: originality of content, conceptual rigor, methodological issues, clarity and consistency, both in argument and in the exhibition, quality of sources and references, contributions to knowledge, adequate preparation of the summary, title and relevance of the conclusions. This ensures that articles published in the Journal of Finance and Economic Policy are of excellent quality.

Intellectual property

For the Journal of Finance and Economic Policy, the submission of an article, indicates that, the author certifies and be agree:

  • The article has not been published or accepted for publication elsewhere.
  • That, in case you have a previous version published as a working paper (or 'gray literature') or on a website, of be accepted for publication will be removed from the website, where will only appear the title, abstract, keywords and a hyperlink to the journal.
  • That once published in Finance and Economic Policy will not be published in another journal.

Copyright

By submitting articles for review, the author or authors agree that transfers the publishing rights, to the Journal of Finance and Economic Policy, for the purpose of be published in any format or medium, and please sign the attached partial license. This journal is licensed by a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC) Attribution-Noncommercial 2.5. For the CC licenses, the principle is the creative freedom. This system complements the copyright without opposing it, conscious of its importance in our culture. The content of the articles is the responsibility of each author, and does not compromise in any way, to the magazine or the university. It allows the transmission and reproduction of titles, abstracts and full content, with academic, scientific, cultural ends, provided acknowledgment of the respective source. This work cannot be used for commercial purposes.

Ethical Principles

The articles published in the Journal of Finance and Economic Policy is subject to compliance with the ethical principles contained in the declarations and laws on intellectual property and copyright specific of the country, were the research was conducted. Consequently, the authors of papers accepted for publishing, that have research results, must sign the declaration of originality, rights transfer, and the all compliance with the ethical principles and specific laws, which can be downloaded from the magazine website.

The journal is guided by international rules on intellectual property and copyrights in order to avoid cases of fabrication, falsification, omission of data and plagiarism. The manufacture of results is caused for data invented by the authors, the forgery is when data is manipulated and changed at the whim of the authors, the omission occurs when the authors deliberately, conceal facts or data, and plagiarism when an author presented as his own ideas, data created by others. Cases of plagiarism are: direct copy of a text without quotation marks or without citing the source, changing a few words of text, paraphrase and lack of thanks. The Journal used the tools that detect either of these cases in the presented articles.

Habeas Data

In order to comply with the provisions of Article 10 of Decree 1377 of 2013, or the regulating Law 1581 of 2012, the UNIVERSIDAD CATÓLICA DE COLOMBIA, held liable and/or responsible for personal data processing, reveals that personal data of our authors, members of the various committees and peer reviewers, are included in our databases; for the above-said and in compliance with current legislation, the University shall always ask your permission to use it, in order that in the development of its functions as an institution of Higher Education, especially those related to teaching, research, and extension, the Universidad Católica de Colombia may be able to gather, collect, store, use, circulate, delete, process, share, compile, handle, update, transmit and/or transfer it to third countries, and use the data you have provided and which have been incorporated into the databases of all types that rest in the University.

The Universidad Católica de Colombia is herein expressly and unequivocally authorized, under the terms established by Decree 1377 of 2013 to maintain and manage the information of our contributors, unless they inform otherwise at the following e-mail account available to the University for this purpose: contacto@ucatolica.edu.co and revistafinypolecon@ucatolica.edu.co.

In regards to their personal data, our authors, members of the various committees and peer reviewers, do herein authorize the Universidad Católica de Colombia to process their data, in accordance with the provisions of Law 1581 of 2012 and Decree 1377 of 2013.

I. General aspects

In the Journal of Finance and Economic Policy, are evaluated and published, exclusively the following type of works:

  1. Scientific and technological article research: A document that presents, in detail, the original results of research projects completed. The structure generally used contains four main sections: introduction, methodology, results and conclusions.
  2. Reflection article: document presents research results completed from an analytical perspective, interpretative or critical of the author, on a specific topic using original sources.
  3. Review article: the result of a completed research, paper which analyzes, systematizes and integrate, research findings published or unpublished, on a field of science or technology, in order to account for the progress and development trends. It is characterized by a careful review of the literature of at least 50 references.

1. The contributions will enable, dissemination and discussion of topics such as: economic theory, economic policy, finance and regional economics (national or international), and economy, education, culture and university. Other issues may be published with the permission of the Editorial Board and / or the Editor, taking into account their relationship and interdisciplinary relevance with the economics discipline.

2. The contributions should be original, unpublished and should not be postulated simultaneously in other journals, or in others publishing organs. Articles may be in English and Spanish are also included translations from other languages.

3. Authors should submit his articles and curriculum to the email [revistafinypolecon@ucatolica.edu.co], along with formats of originality and session of copyright, available on the website of the journal [http://editorial.ucatolica.edu.co/ojsucatolica/revistas_ucatolica/index.php/RFYPE/index].

4. The original manuscripts should be sent to the editor of the Journal, Ms. Joan Miguel Tejedor Estupiñán, to the following address:

5. Articles postulated in the different calls will be subject to an editorial process to be developed in several phases. Items received are evaluated by members of the Editorial Committee and Editor, who they will determine the relevance of its publication. Having established that the article meets the established themes, in addition to the editorial standards indicated in these instructions, will be sent to two referees (peer reviewers) of the Journal, one internal and one external, who They will determine on an anonymous basis:

  1. publish without changes;
  2. publish after doing adjustments, and
  3. not publish.

6. The arbitration process of the articles is made in the form of double-blind, guaranteeing confidentiality and anonymity of authors and reviewers. In case of discrepancy between the two, the text will be sent to a third arbitrator, whose decision will define its publication.

7. When an article or essay is listed as “publishable with adjustments”, he or the concepts behind it, are brought to consideration of the author, to carry out the proposed reforms in a term no more of eight days. The team of the magazine will keep informed the author (s) during the different stages of the editorial process.

The Editor and the Editorial Board of the journal Finance and Economic Policy, are the instances that decide the publication of originals. We clarify that the submission of material does not imply his publish. The layout errors, failure to meet standards of the magazine or the incorrect spelling and syntax, may be cause for rejection of the work without passing to the evaluation process.

The Journal Finance and Economic Policy, can make public, in case of checked, the following scientific malpractice: plagiarism, falsification or fabrication of data, individual appropriation of collective authorship and duplicate publication.

 

II. Editorial standards

1. The articles must be submitted on magnetic media in Word text file, and must meet the following requirements: an extension between 10,000 and 15,000 words including notes and references, single spaced, font Times New Roman, size 12, margins of 3 cm.

2. The data about the author, indicated in a footnote to page (with asterisk): author's name, profession, education level, current employment, workplace and your e-mail.

3. All articles are accompanied by the respective summaries in Spanish and English, it shall not exceed 108 words, which should provide sufficient information for readers to identify the subject of the article.

4. Include up to 7 key words in Spanish and English. All items must carry the classification of the nomenclature of Journal of Economic Literature (JEL), it can be found on the website of EconLit [http://www.aeaweb.org/jel/jel_class_system.php].

5. The title should be explanatory and capture the essence of the work.

6. All work must contain an introduction, develop, conclusions, and references.

7. For items that use the logic of mathematical structure, the summary should make explicit what is the economic problem that aims to address and the mathematical model used for this. The assumptions and conclusions of the analysis, is also expressed in written words and not just in mathematical symbols. Also, when including formulas, equations or mathematical languages , they are given full, or the corresponding files in electronic format, if the material is delivered in manu.

8. Equations should be numbered consecutively within square brackets ([1], [2], [3] ...). These numbers must be aligned to the right of the page. Mathematical symbols should be clear and legible. Subscripts and superscripts must be properly located.

9. The graphs, tables (or tables), figures, maps and photos (if any) of the submitted works will be presented in electronic format (must be of sufficient quality to allow for optimal playback, do not accept tables, graphs or images copied from other works), shall be numbered consecutively in order of appearance in the text, and it shall specify the place where you inserted. All graphic elements will be delivered, indicating the program used, necessarily will be compatible with standars used in the preparation of these materials (for figures, maps and photos is suggested image files. .gif, .jpg, .tiff and not imported from Word). Also, the tables and figures should be explained by themselves (without having to resort to the text for your understanding), indicating the units and contain all footnotes, and the corresponding complete source (for charts or tables is suggested to use the tool Table menu or the word processing programs).

10. Literature citations and the references list, must be made on the APA style Ed. 6th. (American Psychological Association) [www.apastyle.org/learn/faqs/index.aspx] and [http://flash1r.apa.org/apastyle/basics/index.htm].

11. The nature of footer notes is only of explanatory or clarifying, not should include references.

12. Bibliographic citations must be submitted within the text, in the bibliography at the end of the work is given the full record. The bibliography should present only the sources cited in the work, in a section entitled References.

13. With regard to the manner of presenting the different cites and references, we suggest taking into account the following examples:

• If The textual quotes have forty words or less, will be preceded by two points and quotation marks, if they are longest, will be in a separate paragraph, indented, without quotation marks to one space. Aggregates in textual citations, will be made in brackets. In both cases shall be entered in the following manner: between parentheses the author's surname, year of publication of the work and the number page or numbers, eg:

(Astudillo, 1999, p. 88-89).

• The paraphrase should contain only the author's name and year of publication, eg:

(Astudillo, 1999).

• If two or more works by an author were published the same year are distinguished by the letters a, b, c, etc.., eg:

(Astudillo, 1996a, p. 27).

• If the work has more than three authors, cite first time all surnames, in the subsequent entries, type only the first author surname, followed by the phrase et al. If more than six authors, use et al. from the first mention.

• References will arranged alphabetically, the same author works are arranged chronologically, are hanging indent, double-spaced and be presented as follows:

14. When using an acronym or an abbreviation, first write, the complete equivalence and then in brackets, the term is used in the rest of the document.

15. If you highlight in the text in a word or phrase, it is recommended to use italics or underline the words, avoiding the use of bold and quotes.

16. Compliance with these standards is essential. The contributions accepted, will be subject to a correction of style, are recommended to the authors, send versions with a first correction. In addition, your publication will be subject to the availability of space in each issue. In no case be returned to original author, nor shall be no liability for the magazine.

17. The Editorial Board reserves the right to change the title of the articles and make editorial changes it deems appropriate to give the article as clearly as possible. Therefore, is encouraged to the authors to write with the greatest rigor, checking the spelling, using short paragraphs and homogeneous, and using suitably punctuation.

18. The author yields the publishing rights to the Faculty of Economics of the Catholic University of Colombia. The journal Finance and Economic Policy, reserves the right of print publish, electronic and of any other class, in all languages.

19. In some cases are published texts disseminated in other media, or that require translation, provided they have the appropriate authorization and do not entail additional costs for the publication.

Note: any situation not covered in these rules of publication, shall be decided by the editorial committee.
