INGENIERÍA journal is a regular-scientific publication of the Faculty of Engineering of the District University of Bogotá "Francisco José de Caldas". Its main purpose is to disseminate the research results of the academic community of the Faculty and the external academic community, across the country and abroad. Therefore, the papers published in the journal must be related to engineering work in general, and the derivations of engineering, in particular those undertaken at the university. Its frequency is quarterly (three issues per year). Every paper is peer-reviewed double-blinded by experts that recommend its suitability or not for an eventual publication. The Editorial Board, based on the recommendations given by the reviewers and after double-checking compliance with the editorial policies of the journal, decides to publish the paper in a future edition or to reject it. All manuscripts submitted to the journal must be unpublished.

Guidelines for the preparation of the manuscript

• Papers can be of any of the categories defined by Publindex - Colciencias (Colombia’s Office of Science, Technology and Innovation), but priority will be given to research, opinion and review papers.
• Papers should be written on standard letter size (21.59 cm x 27.94 cm), on one side, a single column, single spaced. The font is Times New Roman or Calibri size 10. Paragraphs begin in the first line indented 0.3 cm.

The following sections should be included:

• The Title should not be more than 20 words and must not include abbreviations, parentheses, formulas, abbreviations or non-alphabetical characters.
• The Abstract must be no longer than 200 words. It should not contain abbreviations or references, or unknown characters. It must be an structured abstract.
• The Keywords consists of up to six (6) words or terms that describe the topics, areas or major labor issues. They should be sorted alphabetically.
• The equations within a paper must be numbered in order of appearance. The equation number is enclosed in parentheses and aligned to the right margin of the page while the equation is centered.
• All illustrations, charts, drawings, pictures, etc., should be called figures. The figures are numbered in order of appearance in the text of the paper with Arabic numerals, e.g. Figure 5.
• All figures must have a caption. The caption must be adjusted to the left and right margins except when it does not occupy more than one line. The vocable "Figure" (with the first letter capitalised) along with its consecutive number (both in bold) and the caption, should be located below the figure in Calibri font and size 8. The caption should not be within the graph or image but apart.
• Tables are numbered consecutively as they appear in the text of the manuscript. Tables are identified with the vocable "Table" (with the first letter capitalised) followed by a Roman ordinal (both in bold); e.g. "Table VII" and should be centered on a line on top of the table.
• Systems of units to be used must be MKS or CGS but avoid mixing the two systems. The symbol separating the integer part of the decimal part in a decimal number is the dot ".". Commas "," should be used as thousand separators.
• The journal uses citation and bibliographical references using the IEEE standard. References should be numbered in the order that they appear in the text, that is, the first cited reference in the text is the first entry in the bibliography and so on. The font type of the bibliography is Calibri size 8.

INGENIERÍA Journal follows the guidelines established by the Ethics Committee Publications (COPE) in handling the problems of unethical conduct.

Consideration of unethical behavior

• Unethical behavior, the Editor considered minor, can be treated between him and the authors without further consultations, the authors should have the opportunity to respond to allegations made.
• Unethical behavior of a serious nature should be consulted in the first instance with the Editorial Committee to be submitted to the Committee of Publication of the Faculty of Engineering of the University.
• Against unethical behavior the first decision must be made by the Editor who should seek counseling in the first instance with the Editorial Board and if the problem or situation is greater with the Publishing Committee of the Faculty of Engineering.

Guidelines for submitting the manuscript

Authors must submit the following material to the Editor-in-Chief through journal’s Open Journal System (OJS):

• Letter of intention and originality of the manuscript.
• The manuscript in digital format using the journal template and guidelines, both of which can be downloaded from the following link: http://goo.gl/jMcRA1. Two versions of the manuscript are required: one including authors information and an anonymous one (without names on the front page, citation box, headers or biographies in the final page).
• Admitted formats for the manuscript are: .DOC, .DOCX or .PDF generated from LaTeX. Templates and examples for all these versions are available in the journal Webpage.
• Suggestions of two candidate reviewers claiming no conflict of interests with the authors (although the final choice of expert reviewers is made on the basis of the Editor’s criteria).
