INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

 

Scope and policy

The journal MVZ Cordoba is the official organ of the diffusion of the faculty of veterinary medicine and zootechny of university of Córdoba, Montería, Colombia. Is a biannual publication and circulates in the international environment. The journal publishes (sections) original articles of investigation, technical articles, literature reviews, topics revisions, brief communications, inform of cases and, others that to opinion of the Editorial Committee are from general interest. The topics that the Journal MVZ Cordoba Publishes is related with the veterinary medicine and zootechny, aquaculture, biology, biotechnology, biomedical basic sciences and others topics of interest in the agricultural sciences. The Journal MVZ Cordoba is directed to professionals of the veterinary medicine, zootechny, human and animal public health, aquaculture, biology, biomedical basic sciences and biotechnology.

 

Evaluation of articles

Those manuscripts submitted to the Journal, after verifying that they fulfill the expressed norms of the Journal MVZ Cordoba will be subject to peer reviews of the Scientific Committee for its evaluation. In the event of receiving some manuscript that by special content cannot be evaluated by members of the Committee it will be remitted to appraisers belonging to the national or international scientific community.

 

Form and preparation of manuscripts

The Journal MVZ Cordoba is devoted to the publication of original research articles, technical articles, literature revisions, specific reviews, short communications and presentations of cases interest to the Editorial Committee. The Journal publishes topics that are related with veterinary medicine, zootechny, aquaculture, biology, biotechnology, biomedical basic sciences and others subjects of interest of the agricultural sciences. Interested in publishing will send to the Editor an introductory letter signed by all the authors declaring expressly that the remitted article has not been published previously and that the authors don’t have conflict of interest. Two printed copies will be sent of the article written on any of the programs for word processing, double space, paper size letter, in ink quarter note for a single face of the leaf, with Arial letter, font size 12 and C.D. (these originals will not be returned) or by revistamvz@unicordoba.edu.co revistamvz@gmail.com. Margin should not be inferior to 3 cm and pages will be numbered consecutively including the whole material. Journal accepts papers in either Spanish or English. The Journal MVZ Cordoba is welcomed to the general requirements of uniformity for biomedical journals (Norms of Vancouver). Information can be found in instructions to the authors section. Sections: Editorial, opinion articles, originals articles, technical articles, literature reviews, specific reviews, short communications and presentation of cases.

Instructions to Authors:

Title of the article: It should be presented in Spanish and English language. The last one should appear below the first one double spaced and with a minor font size that the main one. The Title should be concisely but informative and be of up to 15 words.
Name, Last name of author(s): For the second name only be placed the first letter in capital followed by coma. It should include the institution affiliation of authors, (Institution Name, address, city, country). It should also indicate the responsible person for the manuscript correspondence (revistamvz@unicordoba.edu.co revistamvz@gmail.com included).
Abstract: Should be structured and of approximately 250 words, indicating the paper’s objective clearly and including: objective, material and methods, results and conclusions. This section should be in boldface and then point followed by the text of the subsequent section.
Key words: are short terms. These will be useful to classify the article. List 6 as maximum. Use the terms of the “Medical subject headings” (MeSH) list or another describer in agreement with the topic of their investigation. (DeCS, BIREME, NLM, etc).
Abstract (summarize translated to English) it should possess a structure and content similar to the one of Spanish.
Key words: it should be similar to those of Spanish, but in English language.

Introduction: should indicate the paper’s objective clearly, relating equally in selective form the pertinent literature. Do not include data neither conclusions of the work that is giving to know. When concluding this section it will be made with the general objective.
Material and Methods: should be described clearly the procedures used in the investigation including statistical design and data analysis. This section should be structured indicating type of study, place, geoclimatic conditions, coordinate of the study place, patients or animals, laboratory methods, ethical aspects, result analysis, etc. These sections should be in boldface then point followed by the text of the subsequent section.
Results: Correspond to findings without comments nor references to other works. The use of tables and figures is suggested which should be no more of six.
Discussion: is the interpretation of the obtained results followed by a comparison with other studies. It should stand out the limitations of the study and equally to avoid speculations. Point out conclusions and suggestions for further research.
Acknowledgements: contributions from people or institutions that have collaborated with the investigation (financial, logistics, intellectual, among others) should appear under “Acknowledgements”.
Correspondence: Full names of the responsible author, affiliation address, postal address, cellular and telephone number, email addresses. This information should be include in the remission letter or in a single sheet at the end of the article.

References: will be cited with a number correlative to the order in which they appear in the text and should be numbered consecutively by means of Arabic numbers placed within parenthesis. The list of references will begin in separate sheets, in strict appearance order in the text; they were not in alphabetical order. Original articles should have no more than 30 references. For literature revisions up to 50 references. Presentation of cases and short communications will have only 12 references. As general guide examples of bibliographical references are given below. Journals: Author’s names, full title of the referenced article, international abbreviation of the journal name, year, volume, included pages. International abbreviation must be search in “Journals database” of PubMed, “Catalogue C17”, “DREV”, Biomedical journals of Valencia IHCD.
