INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

Scope and policy

Article Reception

The proposed material for publication must be original, presented in a formal manner by the authors specifying the section to which it is addressed. It should explicitly state the principal contribution declaring the originality of authorship recognizing whether it has third party authorship and authorizing the use of copy rights in the web page link provided OJS or to the e-mail revista.ciencias@correounivalle.edu.co in Word documents or in La Tex.

As it is received, it is reviewed by the Editorial Committee in order to assure compliance of basic criteria such as relevance of topic, originality using the Turniting software and applying the instructions for authors deciding on the beginning of the evaluation process.

Peer Review

The articles being accepted by the Editorial Committee undergo a process of evaluation under the revision criteria by peer review. The reviewers are asked to provide their concept in a two week period on originality, quality and clarity of the presentation of the study or research with liberty to express their opinion on other related aspects that would be of benefit for the publication.

In order to guarantee impartiality in the process, the names of the reviewers are kept in secret and the objections to the evaluations or recommendations made by the authors are canalized through the magazine.
The following are the alternative responses given by the evaluators:

  • Approved without modifications
  • Approved with the condition that minor corrections are made
  • Approved with the condition that a deep revision is made
  • Rejected

Approved without modifications: The edition process can start.

Approved with the condition that minor corrections are made: It is asked for a corrected version to be handed for a follow-up by the Editorial Committee on the recommended changes made in the evaluation report. If the result is favorable, the edition process may begin.

Approved with the condition that a deep revision is made: It is asked that a corrected version is handed to undergo a new revision by the evaluators for approval or final recommendations. With the final approval, the edition process may begin.

Rejected: The article being submitted is sent back to the authors.

In the event of nullifying a situation because of the obtained results from the evaluation process, before a publication petition, the magazine would solicit an additional review.

In all cases, the authors are required to keep copies of the material submitted for publication to Science Magazine.
