FROM SUSPICION TO SELF-CONFIDENCE A HERMENEUTICAL GESTURE IN THE ETHICS OF PAUL RICCEUR HOSPITALITY

RESUMEN El talante filosófico de la confianza otorga un sello distintivo al pensamiento de Paul Ricoeur e irradia su filosofía hermenéutica y su ética. Como presuposición onto-an-tropológica, la confianza no aparece tematizada expresamente en su obra, pero se puede pesquisar en nociones éticas clave: solicitud y atestación, desarrolladas en Sí mismo como Otro y en la Filosofía de la Voluntad y otros textos. El objetivo del estudio es exhibir dicha confianza como suelo del dinamismo interno de su filosofía, cuyo presupuesto ontológico-ético es la relación originaria del sí con el otro, expresada en el espíritu hermenéutico-esperanzador, inseparable de su carácter hermenéutico-crítico.

ABSTRACT The philosophical spirit of trust gives a distinctive stamp to the thought of Paul Ricoeur and radiates his hermeneutical philosophy and ethics. As an onto-anthropological presupposition, trust does not appear expressly thematized in his work, but it can be investigated in key ethical notions: solicitude and attestation, developed in Himself as Other and in the Philosophy of Will and other texts. The aim of the study is to show this trust as the ground for the internal dynamism of his philosophy, whose ontological-ethical presupposition is the original relationship of the self with the other, expressed in the hermeneutical-hopeful spirit, inseparable from its hermeneutical-critical character.

PARRHESIA THE PLACE OF THE "TRUE-TELLING" IN THE DEMOCRATIC PRACTICE

Resumen La parrhesía constituye una práctica de "decir veraz" que Michel Foucault investiga en sus últimos seminarios del Colegio de Francia, como una de las maneras originales de constitución de uno mismo en la cultura grecolatina antigua. En este trabajo, dicha noción de parrhesía es desplegada en toda su contemporaneidad política y se afirma que constituye un complemento fundamental para la tesis agonísitica de la democracia, en especial la defendida por Chantal Mouffe. El "decir veraz" del parrhesiasta, al interpelar de manera radical el statu quo de la identidad colectiva constituida en el proceso de politización propio de la democracia radical, subvierte y transforma dicha identidad en un objeto permanente de disputa. Se recupera así el sentido del polemos propio de la práctica democrática.

Abstract The parrhesia is a practice of "true-telling" that Michel Foucault researches in his last courseof the College of France, as one of the most singulars ways of becoming oneself in the ancient Greco Latin culture. In this paper, such notion of parrhesia is developed in its whole political contemporaneity, and it is assumed as a key component for the agonistic thesis of democracy, especially in Chantal Mouffe's work. The "true-telling" of parrhesiast, while contesting in a radical way the status quo of the collective identity formed in the own process of politization of radical democracy, it subverts and transform this given identity in an object of constant dispute. The polemos sense characteristic of democracy is in that way recovered.

THE ROLE OF POLITICAL ECONOMY IN ADAM SMITH'S PHILOSOPHICAL PROJECT. THE STUDY OF HIM AT LIGHT OF THE MAIN CHANGES MADE BY THE AUTHOR IN THE REISSUES OF THE THEORY OF MORAL SENTIMENTS AND THE WEALTH OF NATIONS.

Resumen Se discute el principio de simpatía que Smith desarrolla en la primera edición de La teoría de los sentimientos morales (TSM), enfatizando en qué sentido lo considera insuficiente para lograr cohesión en la sociedad comercial. Se argumenta que Smith concibe a La riqueza de las naciones como parte de su misión por desarrollar una teoría de la jurisprudencia, y que en dicha obra enfatiza los peligros que se engendran en la sociedad comercial y las consecuentes dificultades para que esta logre ser una sociedad civilizada. Se arguye que tales peligros y dificultades conducen a Smith a trabajar en el campo de la ética de la virtud, incorporando la Parte VI de la última edición de la TSM.

Abstract The sympathy principle that Smith develops in the first edition of The Theory of Moral Sentiments (TSM) is discussed, emphasizing in the sense he considers it insufficient to achieve cohesion in commercial society. It is argued that Smith conceives of The Wealth of Nations as part of his mission to develop the theory of jurisprudence, and that in this work he emphasizes the dangers that are engendered in commercial society and the consequent difficulties for it to become a civilized society. It is argued that such dangers and difficulties lead Smith to work in the field of virtue ethics, incorporating Part VI of the latest edition of the TSM.

THE DOING ON THE PERSPECTIVE OF VLADIMIR JANKÉLÉVITCH. CLUES FOR A NEW THINKING OF IMMANENCE

Resumen Este estudio aborda la problemática del "Hacer" en la filosofía de Vladimir Jankélévitch a partir del análisis de su perspectiva "metafísica no ontológica". Mediante un examen pormenorizado de sus escritos más tempranos, se indaga el estatuto que el autor confiere al Hacer como instancia intuitiva, activa y siempre temporalizada de la empiria. Este recorrido permitirá considerar la potencialidad y factibilidad de esta conceptualización para un renovado pensamiento de la inmanencia.

Abstract Tliis study concerns the problem of "Doing" in Vladimir Jankélévitch's philosophy from the analysis of his "non-ontological metaphysical" perspective. Hirough a detailed examination of his earliest writings, the status that the author confers on Making as an intuitive, active and always temporalized instance of empiricism is investigated. This tour will allow to consider the potentiality and feasibility of this conceptualization for a renewed thought of immanence.

HISTORY AND NORMATIVITY THE PROBLEM OF ITS ARTICULATION IN BADEN'S NEOKANTIANISM

Resumen El presente trabajo ofrece una interpretación general de la filosofía de la historia en el neokantismo de Baden. La interpretación tradicional afirma que la filosofía de la historia neokantiana es una variante de la llamada filosofía crítica de la historia y que el interés de los neokantianos por la historia se origina en las polémicas decimonónicas en torno al método de las humanidades. Nuestra tesis, por el contrario, es que tal filosofía tiene su origen en problemas internos a la formulación de una filosofía transcendental, específicamente, en el problema de trazar un puente entre la esfera transcendental y la esfera concreta.

Abstract This work offers a general interpretation of the philosophy of history in Baden's Neokantianism. The traditional interpretation affirms that Kantian philosophy of history is a variant of the so -called critical philosophy of history and that Neokantians interest in history originates on the nineteenth-century polemics around the method in humanities. Our thesis, conversely, is that this philosophy finds its origin in internal problems for the formulation of a transcendental philosophy, specifically, on the problem of drawing a bridge between the transcendental sphere and the concrete sphere.

INFORMATION VS. SENSE. ANALYSIS AND PHILOSOPHICAL DISCUSSION OF FRIEDRICH KITTLER'S PROPOSAL FOR THE RENEWAL OF THE SOCIAL AND HUMAN SCIENCES

Resumen El presente trabajo analiza críticamente la propuesta de Kittler de renovar las ciencias sociales y humanas mediante una reflexión orientada hacia los medios de comunicación. Para ello, se sitúa tal propuesta en el debate, impulsado por el giro medial en Filosofía de los Medios, acerca de la pertinencia (o no) del enfoque trascendentalista sobre los medios. En un primer momento, se presenta en términos generales el planteo kittleriano en cuanto enfoque trascendentalista. En un segundo momento, se reconstruye y analiza la estrategia kittleriana consistente en eliminar la noción de sentido para concentrarse, en cambio, en la noción de información.

Abstract This work critically analyzes Kittler's proposal to renew the social and human aspects through a media-oriented reflection. For this, such proposal is placed in the debate, driven by the medial turn in Media Philosophy, about the relevance (or not) of the transcendentalist approach to the media. At first, the Kittlerian approach is presented in general terms as a transcendentalist approach. In a second moment, the Kittlerian strategy consisting of eliminating the notion of meaning is reconstructed and analyzed to concentrate, instead, on the notion of information.

CONCEPTUAL METAPHORS IN PANAMANIAN ACADEMIC PHILOSOPHY

Resumen Este trabajo tiene como objetivo principal examinar y determinar las consecuencias de las metáforas contenidas en las obras de Diego Domínguez Caballero, fundador de la filosofía académica panameña. Tales metáforas se volvieron fundamentales para el desarrollo discursivo de la filosofía panameña y también para las ciencias sociales en el país, como la historia y la sociología. Con este fin, recurriremos a la teoría de las metáforas conceptuales desarrollada por Lakoff y otros como una herramienta de ayuda para analizar las que Domínguez emplea. Del mismo modo, intentamos dar cuenta de la larga incidencia discursiva de dichas metáforas a la luz de los resultados de la investigación psicológica sobre el esencialismo.

Abstract The main objective of this work is to examine and determine the consequences of the metaphors contained in the works of Diego Domínguez Caballero, founder of Panamanian academic philosophy. Such metaphors became fundamental for the discursive development of Panamanian philosophy and also for the social sciences in this country, as history and sociology. To this end, we will turn to the theory of conceptual metaphors developed by Lakoff and others as a helpful tool in analyzing the ones used by Domínguez. In the same way, we try to account for the long discursive incidence of these metaphors in the light of the results of psychological research on essentialism.

THE MELANCHOLIC SELF-ABSORPTION: A PROBLEM WITH ITSELF OR AN APORIA IN THE SELF?

Resumen Este artículo se propone pensar el ensimismamiento característico de la melancolía en vistas a comprender su particular endon. Siguiendo las discusiones que ha mantenido la psiquiatría fenomenológica con las tesis heideggerianas sobre el miedo y la angustia, intentaremos mostrar que la melancolía, pese a poder ser entendida como un retraimiento del mundo y como una relación consigo mismo de autorreproche, puede ser pensada también como una condición vital que radicaría en un movimiento de autoanulación albergado en la propia relación del existir consigo, mientras se despliega en el mundo. Así, se esbozará una reflexión en la que la melancolía pueda ser entendida como una aporía a partir de las consideraciones kierkegaardianas sobre la desesperación en cuanto enfermedad mortal.

Abstract This paper aims to think about the characteristic self-absorption of melancholy to understand its particular endon. Following the discussions that phenomenological psychiatry has maintained with heideggerian theses about fear and anguish, we will try to show that melancholy, despite being understood as a withdrawal from the world and as a reproachful relationship with oneself, can also be thought as a vital condition that resides in a movement of self-annulment housed in the own relation of existence to oneself, while this one unfolds in the world. Thus, it will be outlined a reflection in which melancholy can be understood as an aporia from the Kierkegaard's considerations on despair as a deadly disease.

MURMUR

Resumen En esta conversación, María del Rosario Acosta y Jean-Luc Nancy reflexionan sobre los distintos registros de la palabra "murmullo" y la relación que puede establecerse entre cada uno de ellos y la pregunta por la crítica política y de lo político en el pensamiento de Nancy. El aspecto sonoro del murmullo permite acercarse, por un lado, a una reflexión sobre la circulación del sentido en términos de resonancia. Conduce también a la pregunta por la singularidad de la experiencia de la escucha en la constitución de ser-en-común, y por el papel del testimonio -y la desaparición de espacios para su escucha- en medio de las múltiples violencias que afectan nuestro presente histórico. Nancy revisa algunas de sus posturas anteriores frente a estas preguntas, profundiza en otras, y trae a colación temas nuevos que no se encuentran desarrollados en otros de sus escritos. Como texto inédito, esta conversación es un homenaje a su voz en el contexto de su muerte reciente. Nos recuerda que el murmullo de su pensamiento seguirá circulando entre nosotres.

Abstract In this conversation, María del Rosario Acosta and Jean-Luc Nancy reflect on the different registers of the word "murmur" and the relationship that can be established between each of them and the question of the political and political criticism in the thought of Nancy. The sound aspect of the murmur allows us to approach, on the one hand, a reflection on the circulation of meaning in terms of resonance. It also leads to the question of the uniqueness of the experience of listening in the constitution of being-in-common, and of the role of testimony -and the disappearance of spaces for listening to it- during the multiple violence that affects our historical present. Nancy reviews some of his previous positions on these questions, delves into others, and brings up new themes that are not developed in other of his writings. As a previously unpublished text, this conversation is a tribute to his voice in the context of his recent death. He reminds us that the murmur of his thoughts will continue to circulate.
