Estudiamos los fenómenos lingüísticos que se usan para caracterizar a estos personajes. Mediante la ayuda de diccionarios, descripciones del español chileno y el programa de análisis de corpus AntConc, descubrimos que Serrano se vale, entre otras cosas, del voseo verbal, apócopes y diminutivos para caracterizar a los personajes de clase socioeconómica baja, mientras que el uso del inglés y referencias a escritores, pintores y músicos caracterizan los relatos de las protagonistas de clase socioeconómica alta.<hr/>In Marcela Serrano's Diez mujeres, nine Chilean women from different social classes tell their stories. I study the linguistic phenomena which are used to describe these characters. With the help of dictionaries, descriptions of Chilean Spanish and the corpus analysis program AntConc, I discover that Serrano uses, among other things, verbal voseo, apocopes and diminutives to characterize the characters of low socioeconomic class, while the use of English and references to writers, painters and musicians feature the stories of the characters of high socioeconomic class. <![CDATA[<b>DYSPHEMISTIC INTENSIFIERS IN THE ANTIOQUIA LITERATURE</b>]]> http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S0120-55872014000200003&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en El presente estudio, de carácter pragmático, es un primer acercamiento al análisis de los intensificadores disfemísticos malsonantes del español coloquial utilizado en la literatura antioqueña por autores nacidos en la ciudad de Medellín. Primero, se fijará el marco teórico de partida: algunas consideraciones sobre los conceptos de intensificación, disfemismo y (des)cortesía verbal, como fenómenos importantes de la conversación coloquial; en segundo lugar, partiendo de los textos literarios que hacen parte del corpus recopilado para el Diccionario descriptivo del español del Valle de Aburrá (DEVA), se pretende describir las funciones discursivas de los disfemismos en el uso de los personajes, el acto de habla y el tipo de modalidad de la enunciación que representan, así como los recursos lingüísticos que los constituyen.<hr/>This pragmatics based study is a first approach to the analysis of rude dysphemistic intensifiers in the colloquial language used in the Antioquia culture by authors born in the city of Medellin. This paper is divided into three parts: first, the theoretical frame is presented: it includes intensification, dysphemism, verbal (im)politeness as important issues in the colloquial conversation; second, based on literary texts that belong to the corpus of the Diccionario descriptivo del español del Valle de Aburrá (DEVA) it aims at describing the discursive functions of dysphemisms in the use of characters, speech act, and the modality type of statement that represent, as well as the linguistics mechanisms that are involved. <![CDATA[<b>LINGUISTIC-PRAGMATIC ANALYSIS OF OPINION ARTICLES' HEADLINES</b>]]> http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S0120-55872014000200004&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en Los titulares de los artículos de opinión son enunciados breves que se presentan ante el lector como manifestaciones explicitas lingüísticas que orientan el interés por el tema desarrollado en el texto y, a su vez, contribuyen pragmáticamente a la interpretación del sentido global. En los titulares suelen aparecer implícitamente significados adicionales que hay que descubrir para interpretar adecuadamente la intencionalidad, junto con el pensamiento ideológico del articulista.<hr/>The opinion articles' headlines are brief enunciated that are presented to the reader as explicit linguistic manifestations that guide the interest to the subject developed in the text and, in turn, they contribute pragmatically to the interpretation of the global sense. In the headlines appear implicitly additional meanings that it is necessary to discover to interpret properly the intentionality, together with the ideological thought of the columnist. <![CDATA[<b>THE USE OF THE COLLOQUIAL LANGUAGE IN THE COMPLIMENTS IN A UNIVERSITY POPULATION</b>]]> http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S0120-55872014000200005&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en Este artículo describe el uso del lenguaje coloquial en los cumplidos en una población universitaria en Medellín, Colombia. Como instrumento de investigación se aplicó un cuestionario de hábitos sociales (DCT: Discourse Completion Test) a 740 informantes. Las encuestas fueron analizadas en el programa computacional Cratilo y se tuvieron en cuenta no solo el nivel morfosintáctico y el nivel léxico-semántico que propone Briz (1996) para la descripción por niveles del lenguaje coloquial, sino también las variables de sexo, edad, estrato socioeconómico y vínculo con la universidad. Los resultados indican que los medellinenses utilizan la oración exclamativa introducida por la palabra qué con el acompañamiento de una interjección (oh, uh, eh, uy, ay) que ayuda a intensificar la fuerza del cumplido. También, que los estudiantes, los hombres, los estratos 1 y 2 y las personas entre las edades de 18 y 30 años tienden a utilizar un lenguaje más coloquial en la producción de los cumplidos.<hr/>This article describes the use of colloquial language in compliments in a university population in Medellín, Colombia. As a research instrument, a discourse completion test (DCT) was administered to 740 participants. The DCTs were analyzed using Cratilo software program and not only the morpho-syntactic level and the lexical-semantic level (Briz, 1996) were taken into account in order to describe the colloquial language, but also the following variables: sex, age, socioeconomic status, and relationship with the university. Results support that Medellinenses use exclamatory sentences introduced by qué, and an interjection (oh, uh, eh, uy, ay) usually accompanies them in order to intensify the force of the compliment. Also, that students, males, people from socioeconomic status level 1 and 2, and people of ages from 18 to 30 tend to use more colloquial language. <![CDATA[<b><i>ECO</i></b><b> (1960-1984) AND THE DYNAMICS OF THE COLOMBIAN LITERARY FIELD DURING THE MIDDLE OF THE 20<sup>TH</sup> CENTURY</b>]]> http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S0120-55872014000200006&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en La revista Eco (1960-1984) fue una de las revistas culturales de más larga trayectoria e influencia en la vida literaria de la segunda mitad del siglo XX en Colombia. Esta publicación permite entender algunas de las dinámicas del campo literario de la época en relación con la jerarquía de los géneros literarios y con el papel del crítico literario como agente legitimador de diversas funciones, normas y valores estéticos que influyen en la configuración del horizonte de expectativas del público lector y en la consagración de ciertos escritores y obras literarias.<hr/>The Eco magazine (1960-1984) had one of the longest and most influential trajectories in the Colombian literary life during the second half of 20th century. This magazine makes possible to understand some dynamics of the literary field from this period, such as the literary genders hierarchy and the performance of the literary critic as a qualifier of aesthetics roles, rules and values. These dynamics affect the readership expectations and the validity of writers and literary works. <![CDATA[<b>BORGES</b>: <b>THE ARTISTIC OBJECTIVITY AS CONDITION OF POETIC EFFECTIVENESS</b>]]> http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S0120-55872014000200007&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en A lo largo de su crítica literaria, Jorge Luis Borges deja las huellas de su concepción de la poesía o, en otras palabras, sugiere las características que las obras poéticas tienen para él. En este marco, la eficacia poética es un concepto de Borges que habla de los rasgos de la poesía y que apunta al acierto con el que un autor trata los asuntos de su obra, conforme a unos fines estéticos. Pero tal acierto depende de la objetividad artística, entendida como un procedimiento dedicado a cumplir con los intereses de la obra o con sus demandas objetivas. El presente artículo expone los aspectos de dicho procedimiento, según el escritor argentino.<hr/>Jorge Luis Borges, throughout his literary criticism, leaves traces of his conception of poetry or, in other words, suggests the features that, for him, poetic works have. In this context, poetic effectiveness is a Borges concept that speaks of the features of poetry and points to how successful an author is when dealing with the issues of his work, according to some aesthetic purposes. But that success depends on the artistic objectivity, this understood as a process dedicated to meet the interests of the work or its objective demands. This paper presents the aspects of this procedure, according to the Argentine writer. <![CDATA[<b>THE QUEENS OF THE ROMANCE NOVEL IN SPAIN AND GERMANY</b>: <b>CORÍN TELLADO AND HEDWIG COURTHS-MAHLER</b>]]> http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S0120-55872014000200008&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en La española Corín Tellado y la alemana Hedwig Courths-Mahler son las autoras que más libros han vendido en sus países. En contextos históricos, sociales y culturales diferentes a lo largo del siglo XX, ellas supieron asumir y desarrollar perfectamente el género narrativo-popular de la novela rosa. Surge entonces la pregunta por los lugares que han ocupado ellas y sus obras dentro de las dos culturas, tanto en el pasado como en el presente. Partiendo de ahí esta contribución indaga en las promesas -contrafácticas- que las dos autoras ofrecen a sus lectores a través de la novela rosa.<hr/>Corín Tellado, in Spain, and Hedwig Courths-Mahler, in Germany, are the most successful female authors of their countries. Within completely different historical, social, and cultural contexts, they assumed and developed the popular form of the romance novel. In a first approach, we will ask for the space they and their oeuvre have occupied in the past and still occupy in the present. A second approach shall lead us to the -counterfactual- promises that the two authors offer to their readers by means of the romantic novel genre. <![CDATA[<b>WITHOUT «CLASSES» NOR «RACES»</b>: <b>THE CUBA'S IMAGINED COMMUNITY IN <i>EL COLUMPIO, DE REY SPENCER</i></b>]]> http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S0120-55872014000200009&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en Este artículo analiza cómo la novela El columpio, de Rey Spencer, de la escritora cubana Marta Rojas, representa a la Cuba finisecular a través de una comunidad imaginada sin conflictos de «raza» ni «clase», como consecuencia del triunfo del «hombre nuevo revolucionario». Frente a los cambios producidos en Cuba como efecto del colapso del bloque soviético, argüiré acerca de la dificultad de la escritora para asumir la representación del reconocimiento oficial con respecto a la continuidad del racismo.<hr/>This paper analyzes how the novel El columpio, de Rey Spencer, by the Cuban writer Marta Rojas, represents the century end's Cuba through a community imagined without conflicts of «race» nor «class», as a result of the triumph of the «revolutionary new man». In front of the changes produced in Cuba as an effect of the Soviet block's collapse, I will argue about the writer's difficulty to assume the representation of the official recognition according to the continuity of racism. <![CDATA[<b>CHILDREN'S LITERATURE AND HOMOAFFECTIVITY IN <i>É PROIBIDO MIAR </i>BY PEDRO BANDEIRA</b>]]> http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S0120-55872014000200010&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en Esta pesquisa insere-se no campo dos Estudos Literários, em uma perspectiva interdisciplinar com os Estudos de Gênero e Diversidade Sexual. O objetivo geral é fazer uma análise das distintas representações da diversidade de gênero e sexual na literatura infanto-juvenil, de modo a evidenciar como essa diferença é representada na tessitura do texto literário. Além disso, procuramos explicitar como a leitura literária de obras que abordem essa temática pode contribuir para a formação de leitores na contemporaneidade. Trata-se, portanto, de uma pesquisa de cunho bibliográfico e teórico, por meio da qual empreendemos um exercício de hermenêutica em relação ao nosso corpus selecionado, constituído pela seguinte narrativa: É proibido miar de Pedro Bandeira.<hr/>This research falls within the field of Literary Studies in an interdisciplinary perspective with Gender Studies and Sexual Diversity.
