DUQUE DAZ, Javier. Parties and partisanship. Colombian political parties and their roots in the society. []. , 44, 120, pp.311-347. ISSN 0120-3886.

The article analyzes the links of Colombian political parties with the society, based on the rooting concept .The main argument is that in Colombia there are symptoms of a weak rooting and a decline of such links with society as an expression of its delegitimization and credibility loss, anchoring and social support weakening derived from the presence of repeated corruption cases, relationships of politicians with criminal organizations and the non-representation of citizens' interests. But they have also arisen new parties that have been strengthened through religious and ethnic community identities. At the same time, multiple left-wing factions have managed to regroup themselves with mobilization capacity and relative electoral success and political class sectors have adopted successful mobilization strategies that even with the problems of credibility and disaffection, they have been maintained in the power spheres by means of formal democracy procedures.

: Political parties; identification; rooting; institutionalization; elections.
