^les^aEste artículo examina la participación femenina en la vida política colombiana en el siglo XIX, a través de un análisis de cartas escritas por mujeres y dirigidas al General Mosquera. Muestra cómo las mujeres formaban parte de las redes sociales y políticas alrededor del caudillo durante su rebelión contra el gobierno de Mariano Ospina. También revela cómo la correspondencia personal les permitía no sólo solicitar la protección de Mosquera, sino también desempeñar un papel en la política, enviando al general noticias, avisos y opiniones acerca de la guerra civil y los asuntos públicos.^len^aThis article sheds light on female participation in nineteenth century Colombian political life through an analysis of women's letters to General Mosquera. It shows that women were an integral part of the socio-political and cliental networks that surrounded the caudillo and that played a role in his revolt against the Ospina government. It also reveals how personal correspondence allowed them not only to request Mosquera's assistance, but, to offer the general information, advice, and opinions, ultimately inserting themselves into a larger world of politics.
