^les^aEste artículo es una respuesta a las objeciones que plantean Ignacio Ávila y Leonardo Cárdenas contra mi defensa de la metafísica esencialista. Se insiste en que el esencialismo puede ser compatible con la relatividad conceptual, y en que dicha metafísica puede hacer frente a la objeción según la cual debe irrespetar la máxima de que dos expresiones coextensivas son intercambiables salva veritate. Contra las observaciones de Cárdenas, se muestra que el esencialismo puede hacer uso, sin problemas, de ejemplos que apelan a los hechos institucionales, y que la idea de que sólo puede haber modalidades de dicto constituye una petición de principio si se la utiliza como argumento contra el esencialismo.^len^aThis paper replies to independent objections by Ignacio Ávila and Leonardo Cárdenas against my defense of an essentialist metaphysics. I argue, again, that essentialism may be compatible with conceptual relativity, and that such metaphysics can face the objection according to which it is forced to be disrespectful of the dictum that two coextensive statements are interchangeable salva veritate. Against Cárdenas' views, I show that essentialism may use, without trouble, examples that appeal to institutional facts, and that the idea that there can be only de dicto modalities is question begging if it is used as an argument against essentialism.
