RIVERA CRESPO, Omayra; CRESPO CLAUDIO, Yazmín    RODRIGUEZ, Irmaris Santiago. Resistance urbanism in Puerta de Tierra. II Workshop of Collective Architectures. []. , 30, 1, pp.51-60.   06--2020. ISSN 0124-7913.  https://doi.org/10.15446/bitacora.v30n1.82541.

The collective "taller Creando Sin Encargos", composed by professors of architecture, has as mission to develop projects that support self-management initiatives in communities in Puerto Rico. The II Workshop: Collective Architectures in Puerta de Tierra, San Juan, supports the work of two artists, residents and community leaders who reacted to the effects of gentrification in their community calling themselves "Brigada PDT". The "Brigada" rescued abandoned structures by cleaning and painting murals with messages that call for inclusive public spaces. As part of an exercise in participatory design and construction, the Workshop participants, students of architecture and other disciplines should draw inspiration from the work of artists and the daily acts of the inhabitants to intervene one of the structures rescued and converted into a "Plaza Vivero". Consequently, they had to correct the deficiencies in the urban space that affect these acts. Taking as a starting point the placemaking, the intervention had to be inserted organically as part of the environment and the natural movement of passers-by and residents, but also becoming an icon of urbanism of resistance to developments that do not correspond to the social reality of the place.
