ALCOCER-GARCIA, Pablo; CHUNG-ALONSO, Peter    CORREA-FUENTES, Dora Angélica. Emergency services access to public spaces: distance and time ratio. []. , 24, 1, pp.54-62.   25--2022. ISSN 1657-0308.  https://doi.org/10.14718/revarq.2022.24.1.3892.

The quality of life of citizens is a direct reflection of the access they have to urban facilities and services; in this regard, the study of emergency care centers (medical, security, civil protection and firefighters) is of special importance, due to the type of service they provide. The article measures the accessibility of equipment in terms of distance (radii of influence) and estimated time to public open spaces of the city of Colima, Mexico, using the Geographic Information System (GIS) QGis, creating maps with concentric radii of influence at each kilometer of distance to identify their scope. The results show a centralized pattern, through one or two infrastructures for each service, but leaving vulnerable areas in the peripheries in case of emergent situations; the security system is the only one identified with an urban sectorization for effective care. Finally, it is concluded that there is a need to reorganize the structure at the urban level, through attention centers on a smaller scale than the current ones, but which together provide an optimal and complete service to the urban area.
