Background. Dengue is a viral disease of tropical and subtropical zones transmitted by bites. Materials and methods. Descriptive study, which used the registries of monitoring system in Public Health of Palmira, originating on daily harvesting of health services and weekly consolidation at local health direction. Results. A reduction of the 88,2% of the registries of classic dengue was observed from 2001 to 2004, being greater in the group of 15-44 years by a reduction of 92,2%, in the group of 5-14 years diminution was of 89,8% and in the people of 45- 59 years it was of the 88,2%. Notification of probable cases of classic and hemorrhagic dengue has an important deficit because medical personnel of health institutions don’t use standardized criteria for these diseases diagnostic.
