Abstract

GONZALEZ DE REQUENA FARRE, Juan Antonio. PHILOSOPHICAL NECROLOGIES. DEATH OF THE PHILOSOPHER AND OBITUARIZING OF THOUGHT. Escritos - Fac. Filos. Let. Univ. Pontif. Bolivar. [online]. 2016, vol.24, n.52, pp.115-140. ISSN 0120-1263.  https://doi.org/10.18566/escr.v24n52.a06.

The issue of Philosophy as learning about death was transmitted to us from Ancient Philosophy, and has experienced some significant turns in Modern and Contemporary thought. Within Contemporary Philosophy this issue seems to be understood as the necessity to face the death of Philosophy itself, and in current times it has caused a clear Necrological Turn towards Philosophical obituary and intellectual biography. Therefore, the aim of the article is to examine -from a metaphilosophical perspective-such shifts of meaning within philosophical activity and the Necrological pathos of current Philosophy. From that perspective, the discourse analysis of the philosophical obituary genre makes possible to interpret the metaphilosophical crossroads faced by Contemporary thought.

Keywords : Death; Philosophical Obituary; End of Philosophy; Post-philosophical Thought; Metaphilosophy.
