This article aims to make a diagnosis of the current situation of mine closure in Colombia, to transfer the knowledge and experience lived by Germany in this aspect, to identify the regulations that have been established in the country to date concerning to mine closure, the challenges faced by the country, the initiatives and possible solutions that the country has carried out at present to ensure proper closure exposing success stories and finally concludes the needs, those responsible and how to address this relevant and critical issue for the country.
