Abstract

ARCOS GUERRERO, Oscar Iván. ANALYSIS OF TWO TRANSLATIONS OF CHARLES BAUDELAIRE'S LES CHATS: THE CASE OF NYDIA LAMARQUE AND LUIS MARTÍNEZ DE MERLO. Linguist.lit. [online]. 2014, n.65, pp.161-173. ISSN 0120-5587.

This paper analyses the translations of the Charles Baudelaire's poem Les chats, made by Nydia Lamarque and Luis Martínez de Merlo, from a comparative perspective. Reading these works in a juxtaposed way allows to establish differences between them from privileged criteria in each of the compositions and from operations performed with the target language by translators. Both the criteria and linguistic procedures of each of the texts lead the Baudelaire sonnet, which is unchanging in time, to get into the Hispanic culture as a rewriting of itself.

Keywords : Translatology; Charles Baudelaire; Nydia Lamarque; Luis Martínez de Merlo; Translation as Rewriting.
