Abstract

PARAMO HERNANDEZ, David  and  SIERRA ARANGO, Fernando. Dieta, nutrición y cáncer gastrointestinal. Rev Col Gastroenterol [online]. 2005, vol.20, n.3, pp.26-32. ISSN 0120-9957.

Cancer is now a mayor cause of mortality throughout the world and the cancer gastric is first cause of death for neoplasia in Colombia. The total number of cases of cancer is predicted to increase by 73% in the developing world, and the dietary factors are estimated to account for approximately 20% (but may grow with dietary change 30 %). We review from Report of Joint WHO/FAO Expert Consultation: “Diet, nutrition and prevention of chronic disease”, explain the difficulty of causality in definitive relationships between diet and cancer risks and from reasonable evidence to indicate recommendation for the prevention of cancer gastrointestinal in our patients.
