This article determines the pregnancy rates in Jadelle and Implanon users and the percentage of continuity of this method in patients of a healthcare institution (IPS) in the south of the city. Through a descriptive study, the databases of 14,566 fertile women who attended contraception appointments to get a subdermal implant between 2014 and 2017 were reviewed. As a result, it was found that the average pregnancy rate for this period was 2.81 per 1000 for Jadelle and 1.19 per 1000 for Implanon, figures higher than expected. It was also noted that implant placement after fertilization is the main cause of increase in these rates. Implant failure due to existing pregnancy is less than 1 %, but to maintain this figure, early pregnancy tests should be routinely performed.
