Abstract

CREUS, Nicolás. Argentina and Autonomy in Financial Globalization: The Nature of its Support during the Process of Foreign Debt Restructuring (2002-2005). Pap.polit. [online]. 2015, vol.20, n.2, pp.547-563. ISSN 0122-4409.  https://doi.org/10.11144/Javeriana.papo20-2.augf.

This article analyses the autonomy achieved by Argentina during the process of foreign debt restructuring, between 2002 and 2005. The fact that a state with its features has managed to preserve spaces for its own decisions in such a complex topic in the field of international finance represents a novel anomalous event that deserves to be studied. In this regard, it is essential to unravel the details of the achieved autonomy in order to be able to determine if it was a genuine construction and therefore sustainable over time, or if instead it was rather a product of a particular context. To answer this question, it is necessary to analyze the nature of the support of such autonomy because it is there where the key of its sustainability lies.

Keywords : Argentina; autonomy; financial globalization; debt restructuring; United States.
