Abstract

SANTOS DELGADO, Adriana. Civilization and public education in the national territories: consensus among radical liberals and Magdalene catholic church. Hist. Caribe [online]. 2012, vol.7, n.21, pp.27-53. ISSN 0122-8803.

This text shows how radical liberals and ecclesiastical authorities of the Sovereign State of Magdalena created consensus that launched the civilization and education of the indigenous population, concentrated in the national territories of La Guajira, Nevada and Motilones. The coincidence in purposes, overcoming of discursive differences as well as the regional realities urged them to undertake joint action.

Keywords : national territories; indigenous civilization; Church; radical liberals; Magdalena.
