A research of the general principle of the inviolability of property demands first to analyze the meaning, difference and evolution of words proprietas and dominium in roman law from the archaic period to justinian. This paper also examines the reception of property rights in the Civil Code of VÉLEZ SARSFIELD, in the Criminal Code and the Constitution of Argentina, looking for remarking the different concepts that are attributed to the property. Finally it studies the Supreme Court decisions to mark the approach used by the highest court on the issue.
