Abstract

CANAVERAL-LONDONO, Diana Carolina; VELEZ MEDINA, Bibiana  and  RENGIFO-CASTANEDA, Carlos Adolfo. Academic and Political Anti-intellectualism versus Rigor and Truth. The importance of the humanities and the philosophical presuppositions of the Republic of Plato to overcome the crisis of the social sciences. Rev. Guillermo Ockham [online]. 2018, vol.16, n.2, pp.103-111.  Epub Aug 04, 2021. ISSN 1794-192X.  https://doi.org/10.21500/22563202.3994.

The social and political sciences are currently in a crisis. The growing little credibility offered by its scientists and theorists, corruption and discourses lacking good reasons have made politicians, lawyers, judges, psychologists, educators, social communicators and others, increasingly seen with greater distrust and even rejection. The present article derived from the research entitled Rationality and progress in science. A proposal of analogical rationality, based on the epistemology of Evandro Agazzi, aims to address the question of how to overcome the current crisis faced by the social and political sciences in relation to their criteria of rigor. For this, it was necessary to carry out a hermeneutical exercise from the reflections offered by some social sciences and, of course, from the reflections on the role that philosophy plays in this debate. Thus, at first, explain where it comes from and what are the consequences of the crisis that is reported within the social sciences; Later on, in a second moment, the role that philosophical education plays for the purpose of providing rigor and humanistic perspectives both discourses and research within those, proposing the need to bet on a humanistic formation for the overcoming the reported crisis; finally, and taking into account that the proposal that is presented addresses precisely the training topic, some reflections are brought up about another series of crises that, due to the educational and training systems of the individual, need to be overcome in order to reach the dialectical formation that constitutes the ideal of Paideia.
