Abstract

AGUILERA-CASTRO, Adriana  and  VIRGEN-ORTIZ, Viviana. Application of a model of strategy formulation for evidence of orientation to business growth in SMEs: Cali - Colombia. Entramado [online]. 2013, vol.9, n.2, pp.82-97. ISSN 1900-3803.

This paper presents the results of applying an strategies-formulation model aimed at generating business growth policies to 106 SMEs registered in the Chamber of Commerce of Santiago de Cali until 2012. To gather information a poll-type instrument was applied. Such instrument showed that this kind of companies possess a clear knowledge of their internal characteristics, but there is no clarity about the characteristics of the environment in which they operate; thus they choose and implement highly diviersified strategies, which are not suitable for SMEs and hinder their development and adaptation to the environment.

Keywords : Business growth; strategic formulation; SMEs; Santiago de Cali.
