Abstract

DE BARROS KERR JUNIOR (GOY), Donald Hugh  and  D'AVILA COELHO, Alberto. Image and Art: The Need for the Experience Feeling. Pensam. palabra obra [online]. 2016, n.15, pp.21-31. ISSN 2011-804X.

In day to day life within Brazilian schools, many procedures defining visual arts are included in educational proposals. We challenge those ones that -depotentialized- continue to stress a purely instrumental and utilitarian nature of artistic work. We start the argument taking procedures that usually confirm the artistic image in school as mere illustration, instead of as a producer of thought. Therefore we address the question: what alternatives may be proposed for updating the use of artistic images in the classroom? How to escape from stereotypes and models? We are founded on the concept of art as experience and feeling, so that, through the concept of heterotopia, we address perception as something capable of breaking the syntax and which may be grasped by feeling. Thus we are prone to practices in which art may act as feeling, and not as a language pretending to encode the non-fixed and uncodifiable content of artistic experience. The feeling can also surpass a teacher training attached to labels, models and idioms. Opening ourselves to the no-cliche and to new ways of thinking and feeling, we get closer to finding our own ways of creating art and get rid of those linear processes that stubbornly insist on remaining active in our daily lives.

Keywords : image; art education; experience; feeling; sensation.
