The purpose of this paper is to explore the Colombian historiography produced during the XX century about "Women within the independence"; in order to identify the pictures, roles and speeches that historians resorted to, for creating the categories: "Heroines", "Martyrs", "Realists". History from the gender studies perspective provides analytical, theoretical and conceptual tools that allow visualizing and discovering the female's history and their role as a political character.
