This study is focused on the way the territorial control and dispute for power on trading helped to dynamize the social relationships of those peoples who lived in the Colombian Caribbean during the second half of the 18th century, mainly in La Guajira peninsula. It shall be presented the way the settlers from this peninsula took advantage from the region geography for being linked to the trading dynamics by means of the smuggling.
