Abstract

SANCHEZ PARRA, Sergio Arturo  and  GIL PEREZ, Anderson Paul. The Mexican Press on the Justification of Anti-communism, 1959-1970. Historelo.rev.hist.reg.local [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.20, pp.165-195. ISSN 2145-132X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/historelo.v10n20.66021.

This article analyzes the work carried out by the press in the process of building anti-communism in Mexico during the decades of the 60's and 70's of the 20th century. It is part of the press studies and its unit of analysis is the García-Valseca journalistic chain, particularly its member newspaper El Sol de Sinaloa. In the first place, the contextual elements that make it possible to understand the relations between the press and the government during the process of forming the modern Mexican state are evidenced. And secondly, it is evidenced the way the Cuban Revolution and the concern for the Mexican guerrillas served as detonating and legitimizing subjects of the fear for the incidence of communism in Mexico in the period of study.

Keywords : Mexico; freedom of press; communism; public opinion (Thesaurus); Anti-communism (Author).
