Abstract

WASHINGTON REYES SORIANO, Jaime. The Communist Party of Chile and the Social Demonstrations against the Dictatorship: Political Violence and Rupture of the Dictatorial Order. Santiago, 1980-1987. Historelo.rev.hist.reg.local [online]. 2019, vol.11, n.21, pp.91-131. ISSN 2145-132X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/historelo.v11n21.71760.

The article analyzes and describes how various social expressions against Augusto Pinochefs dictatorship during the 1980s were the main tool supporting the Commu-nist Party of Chile used to promote and consolidate the Mass Popular Uprising Po-licy. Following the examination of the party files, and public and clandestine press documents, the text indicates that multiple acts of political violence driven by a sector of the opposition caused the Communists to aggravate their Rebellion's Policy, which was carried out with the 1984 National Uprising thesis. The communist insurrectio-nary stake required the party to opt for a more unconventional way out, which, in the long run, led to the exclusion of creole communism from the national political scene.

Keywords : politic party; political movement; dictatorship; violence.
