Abstract

The article analyzes and describes how various social expressions against Augusto Pinochefs dictatorship during the 1980s were the main tool supporting the Commu-nist Party of Chile used to promote and consolidate the Mass Popular Uprising Po-licy. Following the examination of the party files, and public and clandestine press documents, the text indicates that multiple acts of political violence driven by a sector of the opposition caused the Communists to aggravate their Rebellion's Policy, which was carried out with the 1984 National Uprising thesis. The communist insurrectio-nary stake required the party to opt for a more unconventional way out, which, in the long run, led to the exclusion of creole communism from the national political scene.
