CLEMENTINO DE SOUZA, Elizeu and PACHECO RAMOS, Michael Daian. Working conditions for rural schoolteachers in the Piemonte da Diamantina Identity Territory, Bahia, Brazil. Prax. Considering the transformations arising from recent educational reforms and globalization policies, this article aims to reflect on the working conditions of teachers at rural public schools of basic education in the Piemonte da Diamantina Identity Territory, Bahia, Brazil. This research is quantitative. A survey was carried out using a questionnaire for rural schoolteachers in the nine municipalities that integrate such territory. The research universe consisted of 800 teachers, and the sample consisted of 268. The technique for data analysis is statistical and descriptive, using the free software PSPP for the tabulation of the questionnaires. The data suggest an educational context permeated by intensification processes with: the increase of new functions and responsibilities; an overload of professional work in activities carried out at school and at home; and an increment in the number of classes, increasing consequently the amount of interaction with students. This set of situations is resulting in increasingly intensified and precarious teaching activities, especially in rural contexts.
