Abstract
PALACIOS, Alexa Patricia Perea and DELGADO, Jairo Mora. A look into the countryside: the curriculum of schools located in the rural areas of the Andean highlands. Prax. Saber [online]. 2023, vol.14, n.36, pp.60-75. Epub Oct 11, 2023. ISSN 2216-0159. https://doi.org/10.19053/22160159.v14.n36.2023.15107.
Education in Colombia, in the urban and rural sectors, has become a priority for the Ministry of National Education or Ministerio de Educación Nacional (MEN). However, for this to be effective, it is necessary to review from where the construction of curricula relevant to the territory is made. This is the starting point of our research: to describe the implicit and explicit perspectives of rurality in the curricula of the institutions located there. The methodology used is based on qualitative research supported by the descriptive content analysis technique. The results reveal that the curricular components are common to six rural schools, since in the curricula, there is a prevailing interest in learning to evaluate quality according to performance and basic learning standards, but everything related to the study of the dynamics of the rural environment is omitted. It is concluded that there is an official curriculum in rural areas with interests external to the context of the students, focused merely on efficiency and control of academic learning, therefore excluding the characteristics of the territory.
