Abstract
MORALES MORA, Lola María and PULIDO-CORTES, Oscar. Early Literacy: Journeys into the World of Reading and Writing. Prax. Saber [online]. 2023, vol.14, n.37, e06. Epub Nov 01, 2023. ISSN 2216-0159. https://doi.org/10.19053/22160159.v14.n37.2023.16292.
The central aspects that make up initial literacy, understood as the set of processes by which children gain access to the use and appropriation of reading and writing, influenced by the family, social and school environment, are presented. Methodologically, the study has a descriptive qualitative approach, which focuses on identifying the most relevant categories of analysis in the academic production. For the consolidation of the documentary corpus, research articles included in the Web of Science and Scopus databases, published between 2015 and 2023, were reviewed. The results are organized into three thematic axes: (1) initial literacy: conceptions and perspectives; (2) learning to read and write: a question of methods and skills; and (3) tensions: literacy practices, teacher training and family links. Finally, the conclusions raise questions that expand on the need to further deepen and reflect on the effects of literacy in relation to the socio-cultural context in which it takes place.
