Abstract

CRELIER, ANDRÉS. (THE ETHICAL ASPECTS OF COMMUNITY IN CHARLES S. PEIRCE). Ideas y Valores [online]. 2007, vol.56, n.134, pp.61-76. ISSN 0120-0062.

Abstract: The paper examines the conceptual path from the epistemology of Peirce´s idea of Community to its ethics. It is argued that although Peirce' idea has significant ethical potential -especially when related to Peirce' Semiotics-, some developments of that idea proposed by Peirce himself are difficult to accept if one assumes a modern ethics which incorporates a strong notion of intersubjectivity and which defends individual rights.

Keywords : Ch. S. Peirce; community; ethics; intersubjectivity.
