Abstract

RODRIGUEZ, TERESA. ON THE MOTION OF HEAVEN FICINO AND PROCLUS. Ideas y Valores [online]. 2020, vol.69, n.173, pp.57-76.  Epub Nov 12, 2020. ISSN 0120-0062.  https://doi.org/10.15446/ideasyvalores.v69n173.65896.

The article questions the opposition between Platonism and Aristotelianism discussed during the Renaissance. Specifically, it examines Ficino's arguments regarding the motion of heaven which have led to the consideration of his thought as incoherent given that it incorporates Aristotelian elements into a Platonic framework. Although these considerations have been questioned, the article delves further into the matter, showing that the incorporation of Aristotelian notions is typical of the Renaissance Platonic tradition.

Keywords : M. Ficino; Proclus; Aristotelianism; Platonism; Renaissance.
