Abstract

DE HARO, VICENTE. DUTY OF BENEFICENCE IN KANT AND FICHTE. Ideas y Valores [online]. 2020, vol.69, n.174, pp.123-141.  Epub Apr 28, 2021. ISSN 0120-0062.  https://doi.org/10.15446/ideasyvalores.v69n174.67642.

This paper presents Kant's and Fichte's arguments to put forward the ethical and particular duty of beneficence. It appraises both philosophers' reasons to locate this duty in a special position in their respective system of duties, contrary to the general criteria of these systems. It also comments in a comparative way, on the role of the faculty of judgment towards the margin of latitude that this ethical duty implies in each of both thinkers.

Keywords : Kant; Fichte; beneficence; duty; faculty of judgement.
