Abstract

BURGOS ACOSTA, Juan José. The excesses of Reason: towards the emotions recovery in the concept of human being. Franciscanum [online]. 2015, vol.57, n.164, pp.97-1233. ISSN 0120-1468.

The article makes a criticism to the vision of the human being that has been inherited from the modernity specially, in which the reason is defined like the essential tool through which a society model of culture and progress is configured, by disclaiming the emotional dimension like a part of human behavior. In this regard, it recovers the progresses made about the brain, especially from the biological sciences when articulated to new theories about language and the contributions of philosophical anthropology, open up a new paradigm for the study of the human condition that at the same time, demystifies the reason, objectivism and patriarchal culture as guidelines imposed by the hegemonic societies, specially in the last two hundred years. This allows recognizing that inside the global and complex worldwide reorganization, the emotions have emerged through deep feelings by means of which people claim their rights and the powerful ones get ready with new strategies to face possible new threats that did not exist.

Keywords : Reason; emotions; emotional Intelligence; recognition of another.
