Abstract

COMERCI, María Eugenia. Peasants Strategies, Tensions and Redefinitions in Spaces Revalued by the Capital. Cuad. Geogr. Rev. Colomb. Geogr. [online]. 2012, vol.21, n.1, pp.131-146. ISSN 0121-215X.

In contexts in which capitalist relations of production are advancing gradually and new territorial logics are developing, diverse articulations of productivereproductive practices make possible the development of life strategies by rural household units. The objective of this article is to reconstruct the social reproduction strategies set into motion by farmers in the rural settings of La Humada and Chos Malal (in the western Argentine Pampas) between 1990 and 2010. Within the framework of the interpretive paradigm for the reconstruction of strategies in the context of advance on the agricultural frontier, different qualitative approaches were combined: life stories, in-depth interviews, and analysis of documentary, cartographic and statistical sources.

Keywords : farmers; strategies; Pampas; rural settings; household units; social reproduction.
