Abstract

BUENO, María del Pilar. Change, Identities and Interests: Argentina in the Multilateral Climate Change Negotiations 2015-2017. colomb.int. [online]. 2018, n.96, pp.115-145. ISSN 0121-5612.  https://doi.org/10.7440/colombiaint96.2018.05.

The article analyses Argentine participation in the negotiation groups of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change from 2015 to 2017. This analysis is formulated based on the constructivism of International Relations. We maintain here, that the material capacities of the analyzed actor do not constitute an explanatory factor for shifting alliances. Rather, it is the ideational aspects that promote, or not, changes in national positions in international forums and grant different meanings to material aspects. The methodological design is qualitative, with a strategy based on the use of documentary sources and direct observation.

Keywords : Argentina; climate change; negotiation; foreign policy; international relations; constructivism.
