Abstract

ARANGUREN ROMERO, Juan Pablo. The researcher before the unspeakable and the inexpressible (an ethics of listening). Nómadas [online]. 2008, n.29, pp.20-33. ISSN 0121-7550.

This article analyses the underlying ethical-methodological questions in social sciences investigation, specifically around some extreme situations that have diminished human dignity. It states some theoretical considerations about listening, silence, memory and the change of meaning of violence acts, starting from a deconstruction of the interview notion, a questioning to the power positions which are leading social knowledge, and the acknowledgement of the researcher political posture.

Keywords : violence; suffering; ethics in investigation; language.
