Abstract

QUINTRIQUEO, Segundo; TORRES, Héctor; GUTIERREZ, Maritza  and  SAEZ, Dykssa. Articulating Mapuche Cultural Knowledge with School Education in Science. educ.educ. [online]. 2011, vol.14, n.3, pp.475-491. ISSN 0123-1294.

The intention, with this study, is to analyze processes for articulating Mapuche cultural knowledge and school education in the teaching practices of traditional educators (kimches) in the field of science. The methodological approach is based on educational research, using frequency distribution and content analysis in processing the data. The results provide a background for understanding the process of articulating Mapuche disciplinary contents and cultural knowledge, through a framework for dialogue and reflection that encourages intercultural contextualization of the school curriculum.
