Abstract

DURAN-PALACIO, Nicolasa María; POSADA-MARIN, Sara Catalina  and  DIAZ-ALZATE, Magda Victoria. Institutional Gender-Based Violence in the Colombian Legal System. Ágora U.S.B. [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.1, pp.98-113.  Epub Nov 01, 2022. ISSN 1657-8031.  https://doi.org/10.21500/16578031.4973.

This text unveils the ways in which gender violence is expressed in the legal structures of legal treatment to the complaints of women victims of abuse in intimate partner relationships in Colombia. Judicial actions and rulings in these cases result in actions of revictimization and ineffectiveness of justice, which perpetuate the logic of male domination and moral damage to women. As long as the Colombian normative system does not recognize that it constitutes one of the elemental structures of patriarchy, it will be ineffective in guaranteeing women a life free of violence.

Keywords : Gender Violence; Right to Justice; Sexual Stereotype; and Womenıs Rights.
