Abstract
RUIZ-CANIZALES, Raúl. Points of Intersection between Applied Ethics and Human Rights: Equality and Non-discrimination. Ágora U.S.B. [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.1, pp.444-463. Epub Nov 01, 2022. ISSN 1657-8031. https://doi.org/10.21500/16578031.6088.
The aim of this article is to describe how and why the imperative to respect the rights of others, particularly the right to equality and non-discrimination, can also be explained through the concepts of ethics of maximums and ethics of minimums, proper to applied ethics. Through a critical review, the right to equality and the right to non-discrimination are dissected in order to delimit their legal scope once they are adopted as principles of justice and not merely as virtues, insofar as they speak of or imply a relationship with the other.
Keywords : Applied Ethics; Ethics of Maximums; Ethics of Minimums; Equality; and Non-discrimination.
