Abstract

TURBAY, MARCO ANTONIO; MACIAS, MARÍA AMARÍS  and  ANGARITA, CONSUELO. Case Study on the Meaning of Citizen Formation and its Relationship to Multiple Intelligences from the Standpoint of Families and Educational Facilities in Barranquilla, Colombia. Univ. Psychol. [online]. 2009, vol.8, n.1, pp.161-174. ISSN 1657-9267.

Socialization of the individual is one of the main challenges in regional development, just as important as politics, economics and ecology; and a key component of this process is Citizen Formation, which provides people with knowledge and coexistence principles that lead them to recognize themselves as social beings, with rights and obligations in society. This mixed-model study aims to describe meanings attached to Citizen Formation by a father, his daughter, and a teacher. This case studies let actors develop narratives which they use to build the meaning of Citizen Formation. Bruner's narrative technique is privileged, with its foundational concept of "meaning". The search is complemented by the idea of "multiple intelligences" by Gardner.
