PINZON ALVARADO, Santiago. Barbarians Behind Doors: An Ethnography of the Wild at a Traditional Bogota Elite School. Tabula Rasa [online]. 2023, n.45, pp.165-190.  Epub Aug 16, 2022. ISSN 1794-2489.  https://doi.org/10.25058/20112742.n45.08.

This article aims to explain the inner workings of male “whiteness” among medium and higher classes in the city of Bogotá. To do this, I will draw from the scattered this concept may be anchoring it to an ethnography lived at a traditional elite school in Bogotá. In this ethnography, I will analyze the settings where this whiteness inhabits, is performed and reproduced (soccer, martial band, and “committees”). Finally, I conclude that the main characteristic of whiteness is the legitimation and the practice of a violent naturalized domination upon most of Colombian population.

Keywords : whiteness; account; higher classes; naturalized domination; Bogotá; masculinities.
