Abstract

KRAUS, Michael. INTERNATIONAL FRIEDSHIPS AS CONTRIBUTIONS TO PEACE: THE CORRESPONDENCE BETWEEN PAUL RIVET AND THEODOR KOCH-GÜMBER IN THE CONTEXT OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR. Antipod. Rev. Antropol. Arqueol. [online]. 2010, n.11, pp.25-41. ISSN 1900-5407.

This article analyzes the correspondence between the French anthropologist paul rivet (1876-1958), and the german anthropologist theodor Koch-grünberg (1872-1924) after the First World War. the letters illustrate how both anthropologists struggled to reactivate the scientifc exchange between the two nations which had been interrupted by the war. their interest in common research themes, which had always transcended their national borders, established a collaborative attempt to overcome hostility and further appreciate international discourses over national ideologies.

Keywords : History of anthropology; Paul Rivet; Theodor Koch-Grünberg; First World War; Erland Nordenskiöld.
