Abstract

MURRUGARRA-RETAMOZO, Brenda Isabel. Environmental Pollution of the River and the Degree of Civil Liability of the Population of the Chillón River in 2018 Period. Rev. P+L [online]. 2021, vol.16, n.1, pp.62-82.  Epub Apr 26, 2022. ISSN 1909-0455.  https://doi.org/10.22507/pml.v16n1a4.

Introduction:

Environmental pollution, especially water pollution, has caused great impacts on the ecosystem. Such a situation has several factors involved, one of them is human activity. In Peru, particularly in the capital, is located the Chillón River, one of the rivers that suffers the ravages of pollution, being one of its causes but not the only one, solid waste and wastewater produced by its population, and that to some extent have a responsibility.

Objective:

To determine the relationship between the environmental pollution of the river and the degree of civil responsibility of the population of the Chillón River in the 2018 period.

Materials and methods:

The non-experimental, quantitative, descriptive approach was applied, and a questionnaire previously developed with a sample of 145 citizens living around the Chillón River was used for data collection.

Results:

It was observed that 46.21 % of the respondents perceived that there was a lot of environmental pollution of the Chillón River, 46.90 % perceived that there was little environmental pollution of the Chillón River and only 6.90 % mentioned that the Chillón River was without environmental pollution. It can be affirmed that there is a relationship between the environmental contamination variables of the river and civil responsibility (p = 0.000 < 0.05; Rho = 0.743).

Conclusions:

There is a significant relationship between the environmental pollution of the river and the degree of civil responsibility of the population of the Chillón River in the period 2018 (p = 0.000 < 0.05; Rho = 0.743).

Keywords : Pollution; environmental pollution of the river; civil liability; solid waste; sewage.
