Abstract

NAVARRO MORALES, Marcelo. Subjectivation, Perception and Simulacrum in Laguna by Álvaro Bisama. perifrasis. rev.lit.teor.crit. [online]. 2023, vol.14, n.29, pp.65-81.  Epub May 15, 2023. ISSN 2145-8987.  https://doi.org/10.25025/perifrasis202314.29.04.

This article analyzes the gothic character of the novel Laguna (2018) by Álvaro Bisama. From the narratological analysis of the style and the literary images that make up this novel, I focus on three problems that its narrative plot develops: the confusion of the limits between the organic and inorganic, resulting from the subjection of the biological matter of living beings to economic flows; the problematization of visual reality and the hierarchical relationship between mind and body, caused by the collapse of the perception structure; and the rise of the simulacrum, capable of overthrowing the epistemological and subjective foundations.

Keywords : perception; simulacrum; subjectivization; anorganic continuum; Alvaro Bisama; gothic novel; Chilean narrative; contemporary literature.
