Introduction: Evidence-based nursing is proposed as a model in which research questions arise from the daily problems of practice and whose response was systematically evaluated from results of rigorous research to guide the best decisions for the benefit of user. Materials and Methods: This article was reflecting on a critical review of the literature on the implementation of evidence-based nursing in the curriculum. Results: A critical analysis of the literature showed several published studies to evaluate the use of evidence-based nursing, their development and barriers and strategies for implementation in the curriculum and nursing practice. Discussion and Conclusions: Nurses should engage in the development of the discipline through improved research and careful integration of theoretical debate and working methods, such as evidence-based nursing. In addition, it is a priority to incorporate this methodology in nursing curriculum so that future professionals exercise their role with critical thinking to improve the care offered and to ensure nursing practice evidence-based.
