This article is the result of a project aimed at identifying and analyzing the effects of an autistic child on the marriage relationship. The research used both qualitative methods and analysis and interpretation based on theoretical assumptions of psychoanalysis. The article presents singular and common situations that reveal how the relationship of couples is affected by the arrival of an autistic child - situations that depend on the subjective conditions and the prior and current experiences of each couple.
