Abstract

The article presents the results of a qualitative research project on the expectations of Social Work students regarding their future performance in contexts of family and gender violence. The participants were 59 last-year students of the Social Work program in the Universidad de La Laguna, Spain, who stated that working with victims and survivors of family and partner violence poses a series of demands and challenges for both male and female social workers. The article concludes with some recommendations for teaching, research, and professional practice in this field of work.
