Abstract

GARCIA PORRAS, Marcela. Social Organization in the Catatumbo Region: Forms of Grassroots Struggle. Trab. soc. [online]. 2020, vol.22, n.1, pp.225-251. ISSN 2256-5493.  https://doi.org/10.15446/ts.v22n1.78905.

The diagnosis of conflicts is a strategy of the Conflict Transformation Approach to peacebuilding. When applied to the forms of organization of the Community Action Board in the Catatumbo region, some of the structural problems in the dispute over territory are evinced. The region's rural population is a key actor in the straggle for the defense of life in Colombia, and social workers have the responsibility of joining and understanding community dynamics in order to fine-tune their critical perspective of reality and burst the academic bubble that separates the university from the communities and the everyday life of rural Colombia.

Keywords : Catatumbo; conflicts; peace; rural areas; territory; transformation.
